NKMT QUEST
Terms & Conditions
Introduction
NKMT QUEST 2027 ("QUEST") is a voluntary expedition, gathering, and coordination initiative for the ascent of Mount Kinabalu. An annual rite of stewardship for pioneers, builders, and stakeholders across the Bitcoin ecosystem, it is a shared pilgrimage that blends expedition-grade ascent, curated hospitality, and cultural heritage experiences, fostering a lasting sense of purpose in stewarding Bitcoin's generational journey toward 2140 and beyond.
ORGANIZER
The NKMT QUEST is organized by NKMT NEXUS PRIVATE LIMITED [1669916-T] ("NKMT NEXUS"), a legal entity duly registered in Malaysia.
ASCENDANTS
Individuals participating in the QUEST shall be referred to as “Ascendants” throughout these Terms & Conditions. By participating in the QUEST, all Ascendants acknowledge, accept, and agree to these Terms & Conditions. An Ascendant is one who seeks the summit through continual ascent, undertaking a pilgrimage of stewardship in pursuit of Bitcoin's enduring journey toward 2140 and beyond.
Eligibility
Ascendants must be at least 21 years of age and no more than 60 years of age, possess valid travel and identification documents, be medically and physically fit to participate in expedition-related activities, and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, safety requirements, and operational directives throughout the duration of the QUEST.
Participation
Participation in the QUEST is by invitation, and acceptance is entirely voluntary. Ascendants acknowledge and confirm that they are joining the QUEST voluntarily through payment of the QUEST Contribution, and assume full responsibility for their decisions, actions, conduct, and participation throughout the QUEST.
QUEST CONTRIBUTIONS
QUEST Contributions are participation fees for the QUEST and are set at 4,095 USD₮ for Solo Ascension (1 Ascendant), 8,190 USD₮ for Duo Ascension (2 Ascendants), and 12,285 USD₮ for Trio Ascension (3 Ascendants). Full payment of the applicable QUEST Contribution constitutes confirmation of the Ascendant's place within the selected Ascension and commitment to the QUEST.
ASCENTS
The QUEST is organized into four ascent cohorts: Genesis 2009 Ascent Cohort (15-21 March 2027), Halving 2012 Ascent Cohort (16–22 March 2027), SegWit 2017 Ascent Cohort (17-23 March 2027), and Taproot 2021 Ascent Cohort (18-24 March 2027). Each ascent cohort is capped at 75 Ascendants and accompanied by a dedicated expedition cadre comprising a Lead, a Deputy Lead, two Medical Doctors, two Photographers, two Videographers, and two Drone Pilots. Within each cohort, every group of 5 Ascendants will be accompanied by a Mountain Guide (Malim Gunung) and a Mountain Porter (Badang Kinabalu) to ensure safety, comfort, and operational excellence.
CAMARADERIE
All participating Ascendants will be accorded privileged access to the NKMT CAMARADERIE through the Primordial Cohort. Solo Ascension includes one Primordial Peership (2,100 USD₮ waived), Duo Ascension includes two Primordial Peerships (4,200 USD₮ waived), and Trio Ascension includes three Primordial Peerships (6,300 USD₮ waived).
Kinabalu Monolith
The Ascendants, through their QUEST Contributions, together with sponsors and partners, will serve as the founding contributors for the establishment of the Kinabalu Monolith. The proposed landmark monument will comprise a minimalist obelisk with a pyramidal top, standing 4.095 metres in height and 4.095 feet in width. The monument is envisioned as a precision-fabricated Super Duplex 2507 stainless steel exterior shell integrated around a concealed granite structural core, mounted upon a granite plinth, and anchored into the mountain's natural granitic bedrock.
The four faces of the monolith will be dedicated respectively to Mount Kinabalu's geological profile, mountaineering significance, and indigenous cultural heritage; a tribute to all climbers who have ascended the mountain, together with a memorial remembrance of those who lost their lives on Mount Kinabalu; the Proof of Ascent mechanism incorporating laser-engraved QR codes and embedded passive NFC tag enabling access to verifiable ascent records, Nostr-enabled events, and Bitcoin-anchored timestamp attestations; and recognition of NKMT QUEST 2027 Ascendants, contributors, sponsors, and partners.
Solo Ascension will be entitled to the permanent inscription of the Ascendant's Name; Duo Ascension will be entitled to the permanent inscription of the Ascendant's Name together with an Organization Name; and Trio Ascension will be entitled to the permanent inscription of the Ascendant's Name, Organization Name, and Organization Logo, subject to the monument's design specifications, available inscription capacity, and inscription standards.
MARKERS
Ascendants will collectively contribute, through the QUEST Contributions, toward the installation of eight permanent trail markers along the Mount Kinabalu ascent route, alongside support from sponsors and partners. Each marker will comprise a Super Duplex 2507 stainless steel inset plate anchored into a ground-mounted granite boulder at its respective shelter location. The markers will be installed at Pondok Kandis (1,981m), Pondok Ubah (2,081m), Pondok Lowii (2,267m), Pondok Mempening (2,516m), Pondok Layang-Layang (2,702m), Pondok Villosa (2,960m), Pondok Paka (3,080m), and Pondok Sayat-Sayat (3,668m).
Each marker will permanently display the shelter name, a brief historical note, elevation, distance completed, GPS coordinates, and a QR code that may facilitate future integration with Nostr-based events and verifiable digital records. Beyond serving as wayfinding landmarks, the eight markers will collectively commemorate eight historic milestones in the evolution of the Bitcoin network, preserving a unique intersection of mountain heritage, human achievement, and the enduring story of Bitcoin.
Engagement
Mount Kinabalu has been revered as a sacred mountain by indigenous communities for centuries, particularly the Kadazan-Dusun people, for whom it holds profound cultural, historical, and spiritual significance. Accordingly, any proposal relating to the Kinabalu Monolith will proceed following prudent, respectful, and inclusive engagement with the relevant authorities, community representatives, and cultural organizations. The name "Kinabalu" is commonly associated with the phrase Aki Nabalu, meaning "the revered resting place of the ancestors." Subject to the necessary approvals and the attainment of broad community consensus, the establishment of the Kinabalu Monolith is anticipated between 2028 and 2029.
Plaque
As the Kinabalu Monolith is anticipated to be established in 2028–2029, the Organizer will provision a commemorative NKMT QUEST 2027 Inset Plaque, fabricated from Super Duplex 2507 stainless steel, for future integration into the monolith. The plaque will permanently inscribe the names of all Ascendants and incorporate a laser-engraved QR code together with an embedded passive NFC tag, providing access to Nostr-enabled records, Proof of Ascent credentials, and verification data. Serving as both a lasting memorial to the inaugural QUEST and a distinctive summit photo landmark, the plaque will commemorate those who successfully complete the ascent.
